यह आयोजन छात्रों और शिक्षकों के बीच संविधान के प्रति जागरूकता बढ़ाने और लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों को सशक्त करने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण कदम था।
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) observed Constitution Day with a series of events emphasizing the enduring values of India’s Constitution. The celebrations were led by Professor Uma Kanjilal, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, who guided the university employees in a collective recitation of the Preamble of the Constitution of India. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kanjilal urged everyone to embrace the essence of the Preamble and internalize its deeper significance, underscoring its role as a guiding force for the nation.
A special lecture was delivered by Padma Shri Ram Bahadur Rai, highlighting the foundational principles of the Constitution. He emphasized that there is no conflict between Fundamental Rights and the Directive Principles of State Policy, which together constitute the soul of the Constitution.
Reflecting on the Constitution’s legacy, Mr. Rai noted that while the Constitution established political democracy, its enduring relevance lies in building a concomitant social democracy. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, a milestone in India’s democratic journey.
As the nation celebrates #ConstitutionDay (#SamvidhanDiwas), the 75-year evolution of the Constitution, through judicial interpretations and amendments, stands as a testament to its dynamism and adaptability.
IGNOU’s commemoration underscores its commitment to fostering constitutional values and awareness among its academic community and the nation at large.
